Elected on August 10, 2014, as the first president in Türkiye’s history to be chosen by direct popular vote, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has since represented Türkiye at the highest level through pivotal diplomatic engagements. His international outreach spans official visits focused on economic, political, military, and energy cooperation, alongside active participation in global summits, conferences, and high-level forums. Throughout these missions, President Erdoğan has signed major agreements and undertaken key initiatives to help resolve pressing bilateral, regional, and global challenges—often through what has come to be known as “leader-to-leader diplomacy.”
Placing strong emphasis on foreign policy, President Erdoğan undertook more than 200 international visits between August 2014—when he assumed office—and May 28, 2023, when he was re-elected to a third term. These visits featured numerous bilateral and interdelegation talks. In many of the host countries, he also chaired sessions of the High-Level Strategic Cooperation Councils as head of the Turkish delegation.
