Gaza, the Face of Sorrow portrays, through photographs, the devastation, grief, and despair that engulfed Gaza after Israel’s attacks began on October 7, 2023. One of the most densely populated areas on earth, Gaza was nearly wiped off the map after months of relentless bombardment. Tens of thousands of Palestinian civilians were killed, and hospitals, homes, and schools were reduced to rubble.
This collection of photographs by Anadolu Ajansı (AA) photojournalist Ali Jadallah bears witness to a depth of suffering beyond the reach of words.
It is not only a chronicle of war, but also a personal story of loss. The photographer lost his father and three siblings—along with his home, his memories, and his sense of safety—just like his people. With every click of the shutter, he tried to make both his own pain and his people’s collective cry heard around the world.
Gaza, the Face of Sorrow stands as a powerful act of witness—an appeal for peace, justice, and conscience in the face of silence. These images capture not only what was seen, but also what must never be forgotten: our shared human responsibility.
